About Polaris

Polaris is a preoperative companion. It presents your surgical team’s approved pathway content — the same information they would tell you in clinic — in a paced, accessible, and dual-track format. It is built to meet the Montgomery standard for informed consent: every material risk and option the law requires your team to disclose, presented at your pace.

Each pathway is a timeline of steps from referral to recovery, available in both standard and easy-read modes, and personalised to your specific surgical option where the pathway branches.

• Polaris is not clinical advice. It does not recommend a course of action for you specifically — your clinical team does.
• It does not replace any consultation, leaflet or document your team gives you — it sits alongside them.
• It does not contain or process any patient-identifiable health information. There are no accounts, no logins, no records.

All clinical content on Polaris is drawn from GGO Med’s currently approved source documents — the Clinical Guideline or Patient Information Leaflet for each pathway. The Trust owns the clinical content; Polaris is the presentation layer.

Each pathway’s content has been reviewed and approved by the Clinical Lead — the surgeon-author of the underlying source document — before being included on Polaris.

When a source document is reissued, the corresponding Polaris content is reviewed and brought into alignment before publication. The version shown above is the version the application currently reflects.

Polaris is designed, built, and owned by GGO Systems, a company belonging to Mr Giangiacomo Ollandini, Consultant Urologist.

GGO Systems licenses the platform to clinical organisations that adopt it. The platform itself — design system, component library, content schema, brand — is the intellectual property of GGO Systems; the clinical content shown to any given patient belongs to the team that owns it.

• NHS Accessible Information Standard. The easy-read presentation follows NHS England Accessible Information Standard guidance for plain-language patient information.
• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Polaris targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, with WCAG 2.1 Level AAA contrast for body text. Reduced-motion preferences from your device or browser are respected automatically.
• Language and locale. British English (en-GB).
• No tracking, no advertising. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, and no advertising or behavioural-tracking SDKs. For anonymous, aggregate statistics we use Plausible — cookieless, EU-hosted (Germany), and unable to identify you.

If anything on Polaris appears to conflict with what your surgical team has communicated to you, please raise it with your surgical team or Clinical Nurse Specialist. They will route the concern to the Clinical Lead for the relevant pathway, and Polaris will be amended at source.
